a learning environment of discovering the riches of academic success in
literacy and math with an integration of our magnet themes, math, science, and technology.

Also provided for the students are weekly/bi weekly Computer classes, art classes, music classes,
physical education, and a wide variety of clubs and activities.

Holy Name Super Students!!

Respect

The academic program challenges each student to strive for excellence
and develop perseverance and the desire to continue educating oneself throughout life.
Students have clear and measurable goals and objectives within each subject area
and a variety of assignments, tasks, and projects to help them achieve those goals and objectives.
The classroom environment supplies the students with a variety of learning experiences
designed to meet the developmental needs of children of different ages.
Social and spiritual growth develops naturally as students work together on academic projects,
maintain their classroom and the school environment, and offer assistance to each other
throughout the day.
The structure and operation of each classroom fosters respect,
responsibility, initiative, the ability to recognize the goodness and uniqueness of
all God's children, and the desire to live a virtuous life.

BRAIN IDIOMS
An idiom is a phrase with a meaning that is completely different from the
definitions of the words. For example, if someone says that they are "All
ears," it does not mean that they are made only of ears. Rather, it means
that they are ready and interested to hear something. When someone says
that they are "Pulling your leg," they are really saying that they are not
telling the truth. Several idioms the use the word "brain," including:

"Rack your brain" = think hard
"Bird brain" = stupid
"All brawn and no brains" = strong, but not smart
"Brain trust" = a group of people with special knowledge or skills
"Pick someone's brain" = ask someone for information
"...on the brain" = thinking about something
"To brain someone" = to hit or strike another person
"A no-brainer" = an easy decision
Can you think of more brain idioms?

HomeWork Help:

Helping your children with their homework
Be sure your child has a place to study -- someplace that has enough light and
plenty of desktop or tabletop space.

Set up a study schedule. Students should study at the same time each day, at a time
when your child is the most alert. Ask them to help you set up their schedule.

Work a few examples of math or science problems with your child before they start an
assignment to be sure they understand it.

Look over your children's work after the teacher has returned it and go over it with them.
Talk about the incorrect answers as well as how well they did on the correct ones.

Reward your child for academic achievements.

Help your child develop good study habits. Show them different techniques for studying.
Ask them to set study goals. Encourage them to study material to understand it, not just
to pass a test. They can summarize chapters, make up their own questions and ask you to quiz them.

Surf educational sites on the Internet with your children.
There are several that offer homework help for all ages.

Take your children on educational outings --
to zoos, museums and exhibits. Encourage them to do additional research
on the Internet or in a library if a particular exhibit interests

"Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle."
